From 2 April, those traveling to UK countries will need a digital permit. Starting today, 5 March, it can be requested.
New rules, and new documents required, for those traveling to the United Kingdom, will come into effect starting from April 2nd. Starting from next month, it will be necessary to have an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA), the essential electronic authorization to travel to the UK.
Starting today, Wednesday, March 5th, it is possible to begin applying for this permit.
This “card” is already active in other countries, as explained by the spokesperson of the British Embassy in Italy Pierluigi Puglia, “in line with the approach adopted by many other countries for border security, including the United States and Australia,” and aims to “contribute to preventing the arrival of individuals who represent a threat to the United Kingdom.”
ETA, what is it
The ETA is a digital travel permit. It is not a visa but it authorizes a person to enter the United Kingdom. The introduction of the ETA is in line with the approach taken by many other countries for border security, including the United States and Australia, and helps prevent the arrival of individuals who pose a threat to the United Kingdom.
