The Como coach Cesc Fabregas has been awarded the National Prize ‘Enzo Bearzot’. Career award for Fabio Capello
ROME – Organized by the Unione Sportiva ACLI in collaboration with the FIGC, the award ceremony for the 15th edition of the National Award ‘Enzo Bearzot‘ took place yesterday at the Salone d’Onore del CONI. An important recognition dedicated to the former national team coach who led Italy to victory in the 1982 World Cup, this year it was awarded to Como’s coach Cesc Fabregas, the first foreign coach to receive it.
These are the words of Fabregas during the award ceremony held by the president of CONI Luciano Buonfiglio and the head of US ACLI Damiano Lembo:
“This is not just an individual award but an award for the city of Como, for my staff, for the players, and for the Hartono family, who believed in a project. I researched and tried to learn about who Enzo Bearzot was, which is why today the award becomes special. I am honored, here in Italy I have felt loved from day one.” In addition to the award, Fabregas also received a check for 5,000 euros that will be donated to the pediatric department of the Sant’Anna Hospital in Como.
Career Award for Capello
It was an event within the event, the award ceremony for one of the greatest Italian coaches of the past, the nearly eighty-year-old Fabio Capello. An award for his extraordinary career that saw him win seven Scudetti, a Champions League, a European Supercup, and four Italian Supercups on the benches of Milan, Roma, and Juventus. He then triumphed on the bench of Real Madrid with two Spanish La Ligas.
The coach of Pieris has won the Panchina d’Oro three times in his career and is a member of the Italian Football Hall of Fame. Before receiving the award from the president of the National Amateur League Giancarlo Abete, he stated:
“With Bearzot, we share great satisfactions, even going through not-so-simple moments. The relationship he had as a man-player helped me and taught me a lot; it’s something I carried with me when I became a coach.”
Farina Award and Ormezzano Award
The referee Marco Guida and the seventeen-year-old referee Valentina Zamburru, who was a victim of an attack during a youth football match in Sardinia on February 28, have been awarded the memorial prize dedicated to Stefano Farina.
The award dedicated to the memory of Gian Paolo Ormezzano has been awarded to Gianluca Oddenino from ‘La Stampa’.
