A Stamp for Social Values

1 Mins read

Yesterday, September 15, 2025, the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy issued a stamp belonging to the thematic series “Social Values” for World Heart Day, dedicated to Lorenzo Greco.

Italy – The stamp is printed by the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato S.p.A., in intaglio, on neutral coated white self-adhesive paper with optical whitener. The design is by Matías Hermo.
The vignette depicts, surrounded by hearts and butterflies, a portrait of Lorenzo Greco, a child who, in 2014, at only 12 years old, lost his life to a cardiac arrest at school.

At the top left, the logo of World Heart Day is reproduced, and to the right appears the name of the Italian Heart and Resuscitation Association “Lorenzo Greco” Onlus, founded in his memory with the aim of raising public awareness—especially among young people—on the importance of healthy lifestyles to prevent cardiovascular disease, one of the leading causes of death worldwide, and to promote the teaching of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the use of defibrillators.

The stamp is completed by the inscription “ITALIA” and the postage value “B.” The first-day postmark will be available at the Spazio Filatelia in Turin. A philatelic folder has also been produced, containing the stamp, the block of four, the stamped and canceled postcard, the first-day cover, and the illustrated bulletin.

The stamp and related philatelic products—postcards, cards, and illustrated bulletins—will be available at post offices with philatelic counters, at the “Spazio Filatelia” locations in Florence, Genoa, Milan, Naples, Rome, Rome 1, Turin, Trieste, Verona, and on the website www.filatelia.poste.it.
