Repurposing and religious hospitality
FOLLINA (TV). The Abbey of Follina, located in the heart of the province of Treviso, represents an important reference point for religious tourism. The Santa Maria Guesthouse, officially inaugurated on September 9, 2017, has become a place of welcome and spirituality, operational and available for hosting pilgrims and visitors since spring 2018.
This new feature is part of a project to redevelop the abbey complex, a national monument of great historical and artistic importance. Follina Abbey is a significant example of Cistercian architecture, known for the charm of its structures, sculptures, and the atmosphere of contemplation and prayer that pervades the cloister and liturgical spaces.
Hospitality and cultural landscape
The redevelopment of the Santa Maria Guesthouse responds to the need to offer quality hospitality in the context of religious tourism in the Diocese of Vittorio Veneto. This intervention actively involved the local community, which recognized the Abbey as a symbol of faith, art, and culture. Collective participation has allowed to gather the necessary resources to provide the new structure with everything needed to accommodate pilgrims and visitors.
In addition to its role as a place of hospitality, the Santa Maria Guesthouse harmoniously blends into Follina’s cultural landscape, contributing to the enhancement of the historical and architectural heritage of the region. The restoration of the guesthouse has allowed for the preservation of a tradition of hospitality and spirituality, offering a unique experience to those seeking a place for meditation, silence, and prayer.
Thanks to this project, the Abbey of Follina continues to be a point of reference for religious tourism, combining history, culture, and faith in a context of extraordinary beauty and spiritual significance.
