Alba De Silvestro confirms her place on the podium in the vertical race at Puy St. Vincent. Giulia Murada finishes sixth, maintaining her lead in the overall standings.
PUY ST. VINCENT (FRANCE) – Two incredible days for Alba De Silvestro. After the second place yesterday in the individual event, the Italian skier confirms her connection with the slopes of Puy St. Vincent, in the French Alps, host of the penultimate stage of the World Cup in ski mountaineering.
The thirty-year-old from Padola, but living in Valtellina for years, took the lowest step of the podium in the uphill-only race, won by the local favorite Axelle Gachet Mollaret. The Frenchwoman finished with a time of 24’23″0, ahead of her compatriot Emily Harrop by 27″7, with De Silvestro in third place at 1’06.
Behind them are the other two French women Margot Ravinel and Candice Fertin; sixth place therefore for Giulia Murada, leader of the overall ranking; thirteenth place then for Noemi Junod. This is the third personal podium of the season for the Italian, fifth if we also consider the mixed team events faced in pairs with her husband Michele Boscacci.
Thanks to her sixth place, Murada rises to 799 in the World Cup standings with Harrop in second at 651 followed by Ravinel (631) while De Silvestro is fourth with 514. In the specialty ranking, Sarah Dreier has 308 points (today 11th), with Gachet Mollaret jumping to 300 closely followed by Murada (282).
The World Cup stage in Puy St. Vincent will conclude on Friday, March 27, with the sprint. Meanwhile, next weekend, from April 2 to 5, the final act of the season will be celebrated in the Swiss Villars sur Ollon.
