ISTANBUL – When the Italian foil team takes to the piste, the rest of the world trembles. After the two individual golds with the athlete from Noale Martina Favaretto and Filippo Macchi, the silver from captain Arianna Errigo, and the two bronzes from Tommaso Marini and Giuseppe Franzoni, the two victories in the team event also arrive.
The penultimate stage of the World Cup held in Istanbul brought with it the beauty of seven medals, with the confirmation of the women’s team with five wins out of five and four out of five for the men’s team.
The season of fencers in the world circuit will conclude from May 15 to 17 with the Grand Prix of Shanghai, a stop on the elite GP circuit, where only individual competitions with increased points will take place. A final step before the European Championships in Antony and the World Championships in Hong Kong.

Another golden test for the Azzurri National Team. Guillaume Bianchi, Filippo Macchi, Tommaso Marini, and Giulio Lombardi triumph in the men’s competition, defeating France in the final (45-29) and thus securing their fourth victory out of five this season.
The race for victory began in the morning by winning the round of 16 against Great Britain with a score of 45-31. In the quarter-finals, it was the turn of China, defeated with a score of 45-26. The semi-final against Hong Kong was more closely contested, won 45-38. Finally, the final against France was dominated with a score of 45-29.

The queens of the world foil are always the same. The locations of the events change, from Palma de Mallorca, Busan, Hong Kong, Cairo, and yesterday Istanbul, but the winning team is always the blue quartet made up of Arianna Errigo, Martina Favaretto, Martina Batini, and Anna Cristino. They defeated Spain in the final 45-27, bringing their total to five victories in the World Cup this year in as many seasonal team events.
The blue Dream Team made its debut by beating 45-21 against Romania, then won 45-28 in the quarter-finals against China. In the semi-finals, it was the turn of Japan, defeated 45-39. The final against the Iberians was one-sided, with the anthem of Mameli resonating for the fourth time in as many matches.
