MEP Elena Donazzan: “From Veneto to Europe to build a cohesive and aware political network for the future of the Treviso area”
TREVISO. Two days full of institutional and political significance were experienced on April 23 and 24 by a group of around thirty local administrators from Meloniani and civic backgrounds in the province of Treviso, on a visit to Brussels, Belgium, at the European Parliament, as guests of Elena Donazzan, Member of the European Parliament for Fratelli d’Italia. A precious opportunity to strengthen the bond between the local area and European Institutions, to get a close look at the functioning of the European Parliament, and to engage in discussions on strategic issues for the future of the Marca, Veneto, and all of Italy.
Among the participants in the trip: the Regional Councillor Tommaso Razzolini, the municipal Councillor in Treviso Gloria Sernagiotto with the Group Leader in the City Council Guido Bertolazzi and the provincial and municipal Councillor Davide Acampora, the provincial Councillor and municipal Councillor in Preganziol Raffaele Freda, the Mayor of Caerano Francesca Altin with the municipal Councillor Matteo Danieli, the Mayor of Possagno Valerio Favero, the Deputy Mayor of Fonte Laura Sarai, the Group Leader in the City Council in Castelfranco Veneto Guido Rizzo, the municipal Councillor in Casier Nicola Grieco and many other administrators who, with a spirit of service and belonging, have been protagonists of a moment of growth and sharing.
“These occasions are fundamental to bring our administrators closer to the dynamics of the European Union and to strengthen the network between Institutions that Fratelli d’Italia builds with determination, day after day, at every level of government – states the Vicenza MEP Elena Donazzan – Indeed, a common and concrete vision is needed that starts from the territories and reaches Europe, without ever losing contact with the real needs of the individual communities from which we all come”.
The visit also represented a moment for deepening the founding values of the European Union, the functioning of its Institutions, and the main challenges of the future such as space, economy, energy, youth, and innovation. Strategic themes on which the discussion with Donazzan clarified and created new operational connections. The visit was also a precious opportunity to get to know the European Parliament up close: how it works, what its functions are, the topics it addresses, and the role it plays daily in serving the citizens. The administrators were thus able to observe firsthand the activity of the European Institutions, understand the legislative process and the functioning of the Committees, learn about the decision-making mechanisms, and the concrete contribution that each Member State makes to common policies. A useful deepening not only from an institutional point of view, but also cultural and formative, which included a journey through the history of European integration: from the birth of the European Economic Community to the current structure of the Union, passing through the key moments that have marked its political and institutional evolution.
The visit therefore allowed us to reflect on the foundational values of the EU – such as solidarity, cooperation, freedom, and subsidiarity – and to understand how these principles still today underlie every decision taken at the European level. This body of knowledge takes on a particularly relevant meaning for local administrators who are called upon every day to implement on the ground regulatory choices, Regulations, and funding that often originate in Brussels. Understanding these dynamics thoroughly means being able to act with greater awareness and impact, implementing public policies that are increasingly effective and consistent with the opportunities and challenges offered by Europe.
The initiative has given new impetus to the political activity in Treviso and to the cohesion of the Meloniana leadership which, with competence and rootedness, continues to guide the Municipalities of Marca. A concrete demonstration of how Brothers of Italy knows how to combine identity, participation, and a European vision. Based on these solid foundations, FDI will continue to promote aggregative and formative moments like this one, as they are capable of strengthening the political and institutional training of local administrators, providing them with tools to face the challenges of the present and the future with authority, starting right from the heart of Europe.
This was just the first in a series of trips that will also allow other local administrators and executives to get to know European Institutions up close.
