For those who love cinema, knitting, and crochet, and for those who are curious and would like to see this “strange thing” live, the first event of Cinema and Yarn arrives at the Rossini in Venice
Venice – Watching a movie while knitting, but not on the couch at home like I used to do as a child with my mom, is making a comeback. Knitting needles and crochet hooks are taking the place of popcorn at the cinema. They are replacing popcorn in the Rossini cinema in Venice with skeins of yarn for a creative and relaxing event where the audience can knit or crochet.
On Sunday, April 19, at 10:30 AM at Rossini, comes Cinema & Gomitoli, the first event in Venice for those who love cinema, knitting, and crochet. The program features the film Hamnet – In the Name of the Son by Chloé Zhao, to be watched while working with needles or crochet. The event is a collaboration between Circuito Cinema Venezia and the association Un Gomitolo a Venezia.
“For the first time in Venice, cinema and knitting come together in an evening dedicated to those who share these two passions that intertwine in an unusual event that confirms how the work of closeness to people by this administration is always attentive and how the Culture Department of the municipality of Venice continues to get closer to those who frequent places dedicated to cultural activities” is the comment of Giorgia Pea, delegated councilor “City of Venice, culture: theatrical activities and cinema.”

Cinema & Gomitoli is a special event for all knitting enthusiasts and great cinema lovers. It is the first Venetian event that combines the passion for films on the big screen with that for knitting needles and crochet.
The screening is open to everyone: to yarn enthusiasts, to those who are curious and want to get closer to knitting, and to those who just want to watch the film.
The screening will take place in dim light to allow those bringing their knitting tools to work while the film plays on the screen. It will be an opportunity to meet, create, and experience cinema in a new way, in a creative and shared atmosphere.
Those who wish can bring their knitting work; otherwise, it will be an occasion to be together. Single ticket 5 euros.

Immersed in a forest, a young woman sleeps, curled up in the cradle formed by the exposed root of an ancient tree: she is dressed in deep red, accompanied by a falcon that responds to her calls, she knows herbs and potions, it is said she was not born of her mother, but from a woman who came from the woods. Her name is Agnes and when Will sees her, he falls in love with her immediately. Will is the young William Shakespeare, who manages to marry her despite the hostility of their families and has three children with her, Susannah and the twins Judith and Hamnet. But a tragedy strikes them when the playwright is already working in London, and Hamnet becomes Hamlet.
