ROME – The city is preparing to reveal the name of the new Italian Capital of Contemporary Art 2027. The official announcement will arrive on Friday, October 17, at 11:30 a.m., in the Spadolini Room of the Ministry of Culture, where Minister Alessandro Giuli will proclaim the winning city in the presence of the Evaluation Jury and the representatives of the finalist municipalities.
There are four contenders, each with its own application dossier:
- Alba with Le fabbriche del vento
- Foligno in aggregation with Spoleto with Foligno-Spoleto in Contemporanea
- Pietrasanta with Essere arte. O dell’umanità dell’arte
- Termoli with Traiettorie contemporanee
The city that will win the title will receive a contribution of 1 million euros to implement the cultural program presented. The recognition will then be formalized by a resolution of the Council of Ministers, on the proposal of the Minister of Culture, who will adopt the recommendation of the Jury.
The ceremony will be broadcast live in streaming on the YouTube channel of the Ministry of Culture (link here), allowing everyone to follow the proclamation in real time.
Meanwhile, journalists, photographers, and camera operators who intend to attend in person must accredit themselves by 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16 by filling out the appropriate online form (link to the form).
An event that marks a new chapter for the promotion of contemporary art in Italy, with four cities ready to compete for a title that in recent years has helped to relaunch territories and communities through culture.
