On the occasion of Dante’s March, the Dante Alighieri committee of Treviso proposes a series of absolutely unmissable events to get to know the supreme poet better.
TREVISO. The venues where the conferences and other initiatives will take place are the Sala Guadagnin in Palazzo Rinaldi, the Sala Coletti, the Auditorium of Santa Caterina, and the Palazzo dei Trecento.
In addition to the conferences featuring distinguished scholars such as Professor Luigi Garofalo, President of the Fondazione Cassamarca, who introduced the series of initiatives with a lectio magistralis on Dante and the devotio of Decio Mure father, son, and grandson on Tuesday, March 11, there will be the opening of the exhibition “Le Dantiche: Dante in playing cards” open from March 22 to 25 at the Salone del Palazzo dei Trecento, and a theatrical performance with Franco Palmieri, titled Dante Cabaret, which will take place at the Sala Coletti of the Museum of Santa Caterina.
On March 25th, on the day that marks the beginning of the Divine Comedy, there will be a day dedicated to schools at the Auditorium of Santa Caterina, where students from some classes of Liceo Duca Degli Abruzzi and Liceo Canova will conduct reflections and readings of cantos from the Divine Comedy starting at 10 am, directed by Franco Palmieri. This will be followed by a lecture by Maria Castronovo on the Alighieri code, which reveals Dante’s secret drawings.
Everything will be enriched with musical interludes performed on the harp by Melanie Judi Fiorentini.
The conference by Costanza Pasquotti with music performed by Federica Lotti, entitled “Different voices create sweet notes: Dante between words and music,” will follow at 6:00 PM, still at the same location.
Dante’s March will conclude on Friday, March 28th with the Dantesque Marathon, when, concurrently, in various locations throughout the city (Ponte Dante, Piazza Santa Maria dei Battuti, Loggia dei Cavalieri, Baptistery, Bailo Museum), students from the High School of Human Sciences, specializing in theater and cinema, at the Madonna del Grappa Institute in Treviso, will respectively read and recite the following cantos: I, II, XVI, XXIII, XXVI.
One particularly interesting event was the lecture by Gian Domenico Mazzocato on Dante and Islam. Rich, clear, comprehensive, passionate, engaging was his presentation that guided us in understanding and discovering the missing link between Islamic culture and Dante: “the Liber Scalae”; a philological analysis, a careful reconstruction of sources, a wealth of unpublished documents.
As can be seen from the series of cultural proposals of the Dante Alighieri Committee of Treviso, on this occasion as well, it confirms a blend of high quality and engagement of the community, but especially of the students, so that the cultural heritage left to us by Dante is not dispersed, but capitalized on and passed down from generation to generation.
