Simone Deromedis, the day after his premature exit due to contact with Duplessis-Kergomard, achieves his third seasonal victory in the World Cup
GÄLLIVARE (SWEDEN) – A perfect season finale for Simone Deromedis. From the anger over the punch received in Saturday’s match from Duplessis-Kergomard, to victory. In the second challenge of the final stage of Freestyle in Gällivare, Sweden, the Olympic Champion from a month ago in Livigno, achieves his third seasonal success in the World Cup.
On the podium next to the Trentino once again Edoardo Zorzi, third despite the fall in the final, for a new double podium for Italy, as at the start of the season (with the same Zorzi) and especially at the Olympics, when Federico Tomasoni took home the silver medal in the five rings.
A head-to-head with the Canadian Reece Howden, winner of the overall standings, resolved only by a photo finish with the Trentino from Taio managing to win by a fingertip of his right hand. This marks the eighth career victory in the circuit, along with the world title of 2023 and the Olympic title from last month.
Unfortunate instead Zorzi who, due to a contact with the German Himmelsbach in the upper part of the track, is unable to recover. Thus, the bergamasque achieves his second podium of the season after the one obtained in Val Thorens in the season’s opening race when he finished second behind Deromedis.
The World Cup concludes with the success of Howden (1061) ahead of Deromedis (750), while in the women’s category, Näslund has 1268 points, leaving Maier (1053) behind, with Jole Galli in fifth place with 623 points.

“It was a great challenge with Reece. This time I beat him and I couldn’t end this crazy winter better. I also want to say a few words about the incident in race 1: the contact with Youri was not fair, but I want to say that nothing was done intentionally, it can happen. Yesterday’s exit gave me an extra boost for today and I showed it on the field. This winter brought me the Olympic gold and three more victories, but even in the previous two years I stood out, that’s what matters most”.
