On the occasion of the Feast of the Sensa, the city of Venice renews its marriage with the sea and celebrates the twinning with Palermo.
VENICE (VE): On Sunday, June 1st, Venice renews its bond with the sea during the “Festa de la Sensa”, the traditional event through which the city celebrates a historical occasion linked to the Serenissima Republic and strengthens its deep connection with the water.
This year it will be Palermo to receive the “Gemellaggio” doge ring, which will be returned by the city of Tirana to which it was entrusted in the last edition of 2024. It is a union to chart new paths of collaboration between two cities linked by the Mediterranean.
“The Sensa Feast has always been a great event for popular aggregation – explains the mayor of the Municipality of Venice, Luigi Brugnaro – The marriage with the sea is one of the most lively traditions of our city and celebrating it together with Palermo and its mayor is very important for us.”
“It is with great pride that I have accepted the invitation of my friend Luigi Brugnaro to participate in the Sensa – declares the Mayor of Palermo Roberto Lagalla – a tribute to the history of two capitals of the Mare Nostrum, two ports of civilization, two souls that water unites in the name of culture, peace, and dialogue”.
In 2023, the twinning had established a bond with Longarone, while in 2022 with the city of Odessa.
