BELLUNO. Exclusive interview anticipating the event on March 23-24 in Farra di Mel, Belluno, at ‘Il Sogno di Serenella’. Giulio Vanzan, PhD in Psychology and Neuroscience as well as Author and Performative Artist, together with Laura Fantozzi, Educator with international experience, Naturopath, Yoga Teacher, and Life Designer in Forgiveness, reveal the transformative power of constellations, archetypes, and forgiveness, offering an extraordinary preview of their upcoming appointment.
Family constellations are a therapeutic method that focuses on analyzing relational dynamics and family ties. This practice, devised by the German psychotherapist Bert Hellinger, is based on the idea that personal problems often stem from unresolved or unconscious dynamics within the family system.
Through the use of spatial and symbolic representations, participants can explore and reconcile conflicts, recognize recurring patterns, and promote emotional healing.
Giulio, can you give us an overview of what family constellations are and what results can be achieved?
To understand what family constellations are, it is necessary to provide a brief background in systemic psychology. Essentially, it views the human being not as an isolated individual, but as part of a family system.
Each of us is part of a complex family network, where every individual occupies a specific role. This network, similar to a raft on the sea, requires that each member has their own well-defined place and role. The aim of family constellations is precisely to ensure that this raft remains stable and balanced. Within each family, there are unique dynamics that influence the weight that each individual carries.
So, if we consider that the goal is to maintain balance, the system self-regulates over time, adding generational compensations to restore equilibrium. However, sometimes we ourselves carry this additional weight, which may indicate that we are experiencing complex relational situations with partners, parents, children, or emotionally dealing with anxiety, depression, seemingly causeless anger. Family constellations explore these relational themes, offering an opportunity for analysis and understanding of family and personal dynamics.
So, let’s say a person has a problem. They open this “entrance door” to investigate if the problem could stem from previous events. Then, they move on to the diagnostic phase to assess the existence of “entanglement”, which is an interruption or a knot in the family dynamics. This entanglement may represent an additional burden for some family members, who may not be in the right place for them on the family raft. So, we proceed with examples to better understand the situation, followed by a therapeutic phase aimed at resolving these knots and restoring balance in the family system.
Laura, how will the event on March 23 and 24 in Belluno be carried out?
The event will take place in Belluno, in the hamlet of Farra di Mel, a location surrounded by greenery and close to the Piave river, which already conveys a sense of tranquility and serenity.
This context fosters a relaxed emotional and psychological state, fundamental to understand and anticipate internal movements. The two days, from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm, will be dedicated to practices and reflections, with the opportunity to enjoy the cuisine and the wide green spaces offered by the structure.
For those who wish, there will be a moment dedicated to meditation, either at the beginning or at the end of the event, to center ourselves and prepare internally. However, the main focus of the event will be family constellations.
Later on, we will have the opportunity to explore the roles we have taken on in our lives, connecting them to the archetypes mentioned in the event title. We will reflect on which roles we have played and whether they truly reflect what our soul desires now. During and after the constellations, we will seek to perceive more clearly what our true role is and how we can fully embrace it.
What is the archetype that has been imposed on us by the system and that maybe for many years has been necessary? We will dedicate some time to perceive what other roles we can play and to understand that at certain moments it is not even necessary to be tied to a specific role. This also reflects the direction in which I believe our planet is heading: understanding that we can perform and manifest ourselves in different forms, some of which may be more congenial and others less, but none of them becomes definitively our essence.
We will use forgiveness techniques, understanding that when we let go of something, we not only give a gift to the other person, but also free ourselves from inner burdens. Through breathing practices and exercises done both in pairs and in a circle, we will begin to perceive the possibility of letting go of archetypes and patterns related to the past, releasing energy for the future. When we acknowledge and overcome the frustration and constriction associated with lack of forgiveness, we also reclaim the transformative energy needed for the future.
So, starting from Saturday evening, we will immerse ourselves in a dimension of freedom and spaciousness. Subsequently, we will dedicate very creative moments, both as a couple, in a group, or even alone, where creativity will allow us to forgive and envision the future in a different way.
We realize that what we project onto the future can limit us, while a more open field of action can unfold through creativity. This will constitute the second part of the event, especially on Sunday, during which we will have moments that will promote the expansion of the constellation process through creative expression.
