Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement to Elizabeth LeCompte

VENICE. This weekend, at Palazzo Ca’ Giustinian, the ceremony for the awarding of the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement to Elizabeth LeCompte took place as part of the 53rd International Theatre Festival, a section of ‘La Biennale di Venezia’, in the presence of Pietrangelo Buttafuoco, president of the Biennale, and Willem Dafoe, artistic director of the Theatre Sector.

The event was attended by the councilor delegated to “City of Venice, culture: theatrical activities and cinema”, Giorgia Pea.

The ceremony represented an important moment of recognition for the career of American director and performer Elizabeth LeCompte, a pioneering figure in contemporary theater and co-founder of the renowned collective The Wooster Group.
