The Al-Anon Group
“I often wondered what outlook on life my children could develop, forced to see their parents argue and witness tensions and violence, both verbal and psychological, that affected me,” the woman explains.
“The turning point came when, fortunately, we encountered our Al-Anon Group. My children started attending the Alateen Group and later the Adult Children Group.
This shared journey has been fundamental: little by little, clashes have been replaced by constructive exchanges of opinions, and together we have rebuilt family serenity. We have understood that our way of facing difficulties was wrong and that the solution was to work together, with mutual support.”
A long and painful process
“It has been a long and painful process, but in the end we made it. I have learned to forgive myself for my past mistakes and now I have a solid and genuine relationship with my children.”
We live serenely even with our family member from Alcoholics Anonymous. Thanks to the constant support of the Group, I am no longer afraid and do not feel alone. Suffering has given way to a new strength and a renewed awareness of the importance of family love and understanding,” concludes the lady who has finally overcome the serious problem with the support of the Al-Anon group.
