A Dream Weekend for the Azzurri with four wins out of four in both women’s and men’s downhill and SuperG, and the achievement of two World Cup discipline titles
KVITFJELL (NORWAY) – One last weekend before the dream World Cup finals. On the snow of Kvitfjell, the first to celebrate is Dominik Paris, who wins the Norwegian downhill for the fifth time in his career. Then it’s the turn of the post-Olympic revelation Laura Pirovano, who now knows only one result and with her third consecutive downhill victory, after the splendid one-two in Val di Fassa, succeeds Federica Brignone in winning the discipline World Cup.
The following day it is Sofia Goggia‘s turn, who wins the superG and claims her first World Cup in this discipline after four in downhill. Finally, it is still Paris triumphing in the SuperG. An incredible result for Italian skiing, which will now see the Azzurri move to Hafjell, where the World Cup finals will take place. On Tuesday, March 24, the men’s giant slalom (9:30 AM and 12:30 PM) and the women’s slalom (10:30 AM and 1:30 PM), and on Wednesday, March 25, the women’s giant slalom (9:30 AM and 12:30 PM) and the men’s slalom (10:30 AM and 1:30 PM).
For Italy, there will be eight athletes competing: Alex Vinatzer and Giovanni Franzoni in the men’s giant slalom, in the women’s slalom Lara Della Mea and Anna Trocker (Martina Peterlini, who qualified for the final event, ended the season early due to not being in optimal condition), in the women’s giant slalom Lara Della Mea, Sofia Goggia, Asja Zenere, Anna Trocker, and Laura Pirovano, and in the men’s slalom Alex Vinatzer and Tommaso Sala. The races will be broadcast on RaiSport and Eurosport.
