On the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Municipality strengthens its commitment to inclusion

VENICE – The Municipality of Venice has established the role of Disability Manager, appointing Dr. Danilo Corrà, director of the Social Cohesion Area. The appointment was announced on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, as a concrete signal of attention to the rights of the most vulnerable citizens.

The Councillor for Social Cohesion Simone Venturini emphasized the intention to improve the accessibility of municipal services through a dedicated working group. Corrà, in his first comment, thanked for the trust and reiterated the commitment to make the full usability of services increasingly effective.

The new Disability Manager will coordinate the Accessibility Working Group, already active with significant initiatives: support for drafting service charters, introduction of a dedicated widget on the institutional portal, and design of training courses for municipal staff scheduled for 2026.

Among the medium-term objectives are the construction of networks with other Disability Managers, the organization of public events, the opening of a dedicated space on the DiMe platform to gather ideas from citizens, and the initiation of the path towards a Disability Council.

The Municipality has also joined the national project of the European Disability Card, signing an agreement with the Presidency of the Council of Ministers to facilitate the use of public restrooms and transportation services for holders of the Disability Card.

“Among my priorities – concluded Corrà – are the enhancement of skills and listening to associations, with which I hope to build a solid and lasting collaboration.”
