Jesolo, anti-erosion plan kicks off: first meeting between Municipality and operators

Illustrate the initial design hypotheses to counter erosion on the east beach

JESOLO (VE) – Sharing the path to identify the best strategy against erosion of the eastern stretch of the beach: this was the aim of the meeting held on Wednesday, June 18 at the Jesolo town hall, convened by the municipal administration. Present at the meeting were Mayor Christofer De Zotti, the demesne councillor Alberto Maschio, the head of the department Claudio Vanin, and the technicians from the demesne office with engineers Andrea De Götzen and Massimo Tondello, responsible for drafting the DOCFAP. Also present were representatives of the 16 Minimum Management Units and those of the Jesolo Hoteliers Association.

On the table an overall investment of 24 million euros, resources derived from the share allocated by the new concessionaires of the different stretches of beach, as established by the municipal administration.

During the meeting, the initial findings from the work of engineers De Götzen and Tondello, collected in the Feasibility Document of Design Alternatives, were presented: a fundamental and essential document for defining the interventions – both structural and non-structural – to be implemented.

Currently, there are several solutions under study, including a mixed strategy that involves the construction of fixed structures combined with significant beach nourishment activities. All options are being evaluated with the aim of shared participation in the intervention strategies.

The stated goal of the administration is to complete the process by the summer, and then move on to the project development phase.

The Mayor Christofer De Zotti and the Councillor Alberto Maschio have released a joint statement: “The eastern stretch of our beach has been living with structural criticalities for decades, heavily impacting the work of operators, who are forced every year to deal with problems that require them to close the season early, and certainly not by their choice. As an administration, we have taken on the commitment to address these situations, involving those who work daily in the area and carrying forward a shared path. After managing to gather, through the concession assignment process, a significant package of resources, our goal now is to achieve by the end of the term a concrete and achievable project that finally provides lasting solutions to this part of Jesolo”.
