At Rho Fiera Milano, the Organizing Committee, IOC, Law Enforcement, and Institutions Come Together: Security at the Core of Preparations for the 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games
MILAN – The International Security Briefing, organized by the Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation, took place today at the Rho Fiera Milano exhibition center. This strategic event marked a significant milestone on the road to the 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, reaffirming the importance of close cooperation between the Organizing Committee, public institutions, and law enforcement on a key issue: security.
A clear objective: shared responsibility for safety
The briefing served a dual purpose: firstly, to bring together partners and stakeholders involved in security for the Games; secondly, to present an updated and unified overview of the measures being implemented to safeguard athletes, spectators, personnel, and the host regions. The event also featured updates on overall governance, venue security protocols, and the logistical and operational planning underway.
Authorities and institutions at the table
In attendance were senior officials from the Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation, Aldric Ludescher, Chief Security Officer of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and numerous representatives from government and law enforcement agencies. Among them: Prefect Diego Parente, Head of Secretariat and Coordinator of the Security and Emergency Management Center; Milan Prefect Claudio Sgaraglia; Milan Police Commissioner Bruno Megale; General Rodolfo Santovito, Provincial Commander of the Carabinieri; and General Andrea Fiducia, Provincial Commander of the Guardia di Finanza. Also contributing to the discussions were Lucio Pifferi, Central Director of the Prevention Police; Raffaele Alfieri, Director of the Public Order Office; Ivano Gabrielli, Director of the Postal Police and Cybersecurity Division; and Admiral Gianluca Galasso, Director of Operations at the National Cybersecurity Agency (ACN). Prefect Maurizio Masciopinto, Chair of the Operational Coordination Unit for evaluating and managing processes related to the Games, was also present.

“Security is a fundamental pillar for the success of the Games,” said Andrea Francisi, Chief Games Operations Officer at the Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation. “Thanks to the excellence of our law enforcement agencies and Italy’s proven capacity for inter‑institutional coordination, we are ready to face this challenge with professionalism, vision, and teamwork.”
