Miro Tabanelli wins in Tignes and becomes the first Italian to reach the podium in SlopeStyle at the World Cup

TIGNES (FRANCE) – A surname, a guarantee. In the World Cup, no male blue athlete had ever managed to reach the podium in SlopeStyle. The first to succeed was Flora Tabanelli, winning in February 2025. And now the older brother Miro has succeeded in the feat of imitating her by triumphing in Tignes.

A historic result because no one had ever gone beyond the eighth place achieved by Eder in 2013 and Canal in 2014. The twenty-one-year-old from Emilia repeats himself in the French location where a year ago he had won in the top circuit but in Big Air. A snow that had already seen him achieve his best performance in SlopeStyle with the ninth place in 2024.

Tabanelli this time immediately made an impact, scoring an unreachable 83.31 for his opponents. The Olympic champion Birk Ruud tried to get closer in the second rotation, but he couldn’t surpass the 82.08 that earned him second place. Third was the Estonian Henry Sildaru with 81.76, the last to exceed 80 points.

For the blue athlete, this is the fourth podium in their World Cup career, with two victories and two second places (Copper Mountain, December 2023 and Beijing, December 2024), all achieved in Big Air.

The statements

These are the words of Miro Tabanelli at the end of the match:

In training, things didn’t seem to be going well, but in the race, I immediately found great feelings. I can only thank all the staff, my coaches, my family, my girlfriend, and now I will try to give my best in the Big Air final.”
