Notting black

1 Mins read

Notting Hill, the most photographed area of London, turns black to have more discretion, but the effect is surprising

Exhausted by the continuous and excessive presence of tourists and influencers, who in Notting Hill when they arrive have only one purpose: to photograph, immortalize and then share, whether on Instagram or TikTok it doesn’t matter much, the inhabitants of the famous neighborhood in London made famous by the film starring Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts, as well as by its beautiful colorful houses, have taken a very particular path.

Painting their houses black to drive away overtourism, although it should be specified that the initiative is in its early stages, limited to some houses, but it seems that the deterrent effect has not occurred, indeed, it seems that the color black attracts without any problem. A classic example of a measure that not only manages to mitigate the situation but accentuates it.

“We are not a museum,” you can read on one of the many signs displayed along the streets of Notting Hill, the neighborhood that has decided to subvert barbaric tourism and the phenomenon of “social-friendly,” an operation that is tinged with black and bids farewell to the famous rainbow houses of the London town.

The stakes are high, involving livability, privacy, and quality of life, legitimate rights for everyone, but there still seems to be room for color.
