A rich program of initiatives promoted by the Antiqua vox Foundation
TREVISO. It is well known that Treviso has a remarkable organ heritage, but it is always an emotion when these complex instruments emit their sounds, perhaps with the touch of internationally renowned masters.
This also happened on Sunday, February 16th, when in the Church of San Giuseppe in Treviso, there was an exceptional concert by Reitze Smits, organ professor at the conservatories of Utrecht (Netherlands) and Leuven (Belgium), a concert artist who has performed throughout Europe, as well as artistic director of the Festival “Voor de wind” from 2000 to 2017, who played the Organo Dell’orto e Lanzini (1990) with a program entirely dedicated to Johann Sebastian Bach.
The church was very crowded on the occasion of this concert, also because many of those present, in addition to the concert itself, were interested in the conference that preceded it.
The widespread interest in this instrument was also evident during the presentation of this year’s International Organ Festival, which took place on February 9th at the auditorium of the Church of Santa Caterina, where there is indeed a monumental organ, a 1998 Francesco Zanin organ.
The event, with the help of projections and listening sessions, presented by the Artistic Director Massimiliano Raschietti, offered a detailed illustration dedicated to the organs of Treviso and the organists who are protagonists of the Festival. Following this, the audience was invited to participate in an interesting interactive session, turning the event into a moment of genuine cultural sharing.
The promoter of this event, now in its fourteenth edition, is the Fondazione Antiqua vox, which with the aim of promoting and enhancing the rich organ heritage of Treviso and its province, as well as spreading the vast and fascinating organ repertoire, has once again managed to offer a program particularly rich in novelties and unmissable events.
Indeed, the next appointment will be on Sunday, February 23rd in Salgareda (TV), at the Church of San Michele Arcangelo, where the French organist Jean Baptiste Monnot will offer a journey through the great organ symphonies, entitled “Sonorities and virtuosity.”
Still in the Church of San Giuseppe in Treviso on March 2nd, the internationally renowned Swiss musician Rudolf Lutz will introduce us to the art of organ improvisation, with a program entitled “Material and soul of sound”.
The final concert of the students of the Master class, held by maestro Andrea Marcon, will take place on Sunday, March 9th, at the Santa Caterina church.
On Sunday, March 16th, the spotlight will be on keyboard music from the 16th to the 18th century, performed by maestro Joan Boronat Sanz, with a title “Luci, organo…Azione”, played on the organ of the Church of San Leonardo.
The festival will conclude with a performance at the Church of San Cassiano in Quinto di Treviso, where the genius and creativity of the Treviso organists from the 18th and 19th centuries will be showcased, under the title “Ancient Notes: the organistic breath of Treviso”. Maestro Giovanni Feltrin will play the 1865 Giovanni Battista De Lorenzi organ.
