ROME. “This morning, at the end of the hearings, Pope Francis was hospitalized at the “Agostino Gemelli” Policlinic for some necessary diagnostic tests and to continue in a hospital setting the treatment for the ongoing bronchitis,” a communication to journalists released by the Holy See Press Office reads.

This morning’s scheduled audiences took place regularly. In particular, the Pope received in his private office at Casa Santa Marta Cardinal Luis Antonio G. Tagle, Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery for the Evangelization; the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic, Robert Fico with his Entourage; Mark Thompson, President and CEO of CNN; the members of the “Gaudium et Spes” Foundation; Prof. Marco Impagliazzo, President of the Community of Sant’Egidio.

The schedule for the other upcoming meetings has been changed. This was communicated in a subsequent message to the journalists by the Press Office: “Following the hospitalization of Pope Francis, the jubilee audience scheduled for tomorrow, February 15, has been canceled; the Holy Mass for the Jubilee of Artists and the World of Culture, on Sunday, February 16, will be presided over by His Eminence Cardinal José Tolentino de Mendonça, Prefect of the Dicastery for Culture and Education, while the meeting with the artists, scheduled for Monday at Cinecittà, is canceled due to the Pope’s inability to attend.”
