The Umana Reyer Venezia’s journey in the EuroLeague Women Final Six stops at the quarter-finals. The gold and garnet team was defeated 70-64 by Spar Girona
SARAGOSSA (SPAIN) – It was known it wouldn’t be easy. A historic first time at the Final Six of EuroLeague Women after the convincing victory against the usual rival Schio. The opponent in the Quarter Finals is a tough and much more experienced team like Spar Girona.
The difference is especially noticeable in rebounds, with the Spanish team managing to grab a total of 45 (including 15 offensive) compared to the 30 of the orogranata, of which only 5 were captured on the offensive end. Reyer was always in the game, despite being down by as much as 13 points, also thanks to the large number of balls recovered.
Top scorer of the match Ivana Dojkic with 19 points. 13 points instead for the always decisive Lorela Cubaj.
The Umana Reyer Venezia gives it their all until the end, but the opponent’s physicality comes through over the long distance. It ends 70-64, but the team’s growth is more than evident and gives hope for the Scudetto Final against (needless to say) the Famila Wuber Schio.
The orogranata will start the series at Pala Romare on Monday, April 20, with Game 1, and then move to Taliercio on Thursday, April 23, for Game 2. The possible Game 3 will be held again in Schio on Sunday, April 26.
