The company has acquired Borma Wachs, thus strengthening its position in the wood coatings sector

Marcon (VE) We had just reported the important acquisition of Oikos, which took place through a bid at the Court of Forlì, and now San Marco Group finalizes a new and important strategic maneuver aimed at enhancing the national industry.

The company has completed the acquisition of Borma Wachs, a historic Italian company led by the Bortoluzzi family, specialized in the creation of professional solutions for finishing, maintenance, and treatment of wood. With this second operation, the Group, a leader in coating systems for construction and interior design, aims to accelerate its development path, expand its product portfolio, and strengthen its competitive positioning: once again focusing on a leading Italian company with a strong international presence.

The integration, resulting from a harmonious M&A strategy, is part of the multi-year industrial plan of San Marco Group, looking towards a leading reality that has been successfully operating in Italy and abroad for nearly a century. In this way, a strong industrial synergy will be created between the brands of the two companies, but, above all, a center of excellence will begin to take shape with an increasingly broad and competitive offering capable of bringing high quality, advanced technology, sustainability, and widespread services to the national and global markets.

“The acquisition of Borma Wachs allows us to accelerate our international growth, enhancing Made in Italy as a distinctive lever within a high-potential niche like wood coatings. – comments Pietro Geremia, President and CEO of San Marco Group -. This is a natural strategic operation, favored by a deep affinity of values that sees us, once again, reinvesting to grow and position ourselves as national and European champions in the color sector. We are determined to strengthen ourselves in a rapidly evolving sector, that of wood, where the market today offers significant opportunities to those like us who focus on quality and specialization. We will thus best serve the retail channels and paint shops both in Italy and abroad, while simultaneously opening the doors to the professional BtoB segment. By enhancing the technical identity of the brand Borma Wachs and its export vocation, we confirm the centrality of Italian craftsmanship in our global structure, founded on common pillars of training and innovation.”

Borma Wachs, founded in 1928, is based, with a production and logistics site, in the province of Venice, and targets the professional segment with a wide portfolio of products. From oils to waxes to impregnators, the solutions find application in various fields and are divided into eight segments: touch-up and fillers, restoration, gilding, interiors, exteriors, decoration. The Borma Color line consists of enamels, while the Borma Pro line is specifically aimed at professionals.

The ECO Premium proposals, finally, are specifically designed with respect for the environment: artisanal know-how combines with intense research on modern, low-impact formulas.

“We believe in the value of change and continuous improvement: a solid and progressive growth that does not arise from a break with the past but from the ability to enhance its legacy to consciously build the present and the future. – adds Marco BortoluzziCommercial Director of Borma Wachs, who, along with his sister Sonia and son Alessio, will maintain a central role -.  The meeting with San Marco Group represents a valuable opportunity for us to evolve: it will allow us to give a strong boost to our professional brand and introduce cutting-edge innovations such as colorimetry applied to wood cosmetics, providing our commercial partners with previously unseen professional tools. The combination of our respective skills will also activate advanced technical projects and operational synergies in key areas such as R&D, production, and supply chain: in this way, the know-how of an already recognized company will be projected on an even larger scale.”

In addition to the depth of its range, the company stands out for its strong customer-oriented approach, which combines with a marked international projection and a significant presence not only in Europe but also in Asia. With the contribution of over 50 employees, Borma Wachs has achieved a 2025 revenue of approximately 15 million euros, of which  75% was generated abroad.

This is the eleventh acquisition for San Marco Group, which closed 2025 with a revenue of 127.3 million euros (up 4%).
