That off-key sound that smells like a scam

Relentless fight against Italian Sounding, that trick to sell foreign products as typical Venetian or Italian. The Veneto Region supports its farmers and producers

Venice – The President of the Veneto Region, Alberto Stefani, supports the protest staged at the Brenner Pass by ten thousand farmers from Coldiretti, many of whom are from Veneto.

“Against Italian Sounding and certain tricks aimed at passing off foreign products as typical Venetian and Italian ones, there must be a relentless fight. The Veneto Region does and will do everything possible to support its farmers and breeders, and the quality of their products, until this plague is eradicated or minimized as much as possible. It concerns a sector that has made Italy and Veneto great in the world for many years and produces income and qualified jobs.”

And President Stefani continues: “I appeal to all our MEPs, regardless of party affiliation, to vigilantly and firmly monitor the many semi-hidden regulations that effectively allow for the circumvention of true quality. I am referring, for example, to what was reported by Coldiretti at the Brenner: what is defined as the ‘last substantial processing’ becomes the Trojan horse to make any product, from anywhere in the world, Italian or Venetian. For this to happen, it is enough that the aging or transformation of the product takes place on Italian soil. This is a rule that must be abolished or profoundly modified, instead strengthening labeling and certification of origin. If this is not done, consumers are deceived.”
