Large tree in Piazza Galuppi decorated by the island’s children, amidst songs and a united community
VENICE – Christmas has arrived in Burano with the lighting of the large tree in Piazza Baldassarre Galuppi, decorated with ornaments made by the island’s children. The event marked the start of the program of events promoted by the Burano Emergency Group – Volunteer Rescue, in collaboration with the Asd Polisportiva and the Artistic Cultural Association of Burano, included in the schedule of The Cities in Celebration with the patronage of the Municipality of Venice and the collaboration of Vela Spa.
The ceremony was attended by the councilor for Relations with the Islands Alessandro Scarpa Marta, who conveyed the city’s greetings: “The collaboration among associations demonstrates the value of a united and active community that looks to the future”. Thanks were given to the volunteers, to the parish priest Don Antonio, and to the citizens who contribute to the life of the island.

The lighting of the tree and decorations was accompanied by a performance from a children’s choir, which enlivened the atmosphere with Christmas carols. Also present was the Councillor for Educational Policies Laura Besio, who emphasized the significance of the initiative “An Ornament for Our Tree”, which engaged the little ones in a creative and participatory activity, strengthening the sense of community and the Christmas spirit.
