Directed by Andrea Di Stefano, the film tells the story of the very young Felice, who chases ambitions and talent while pursuing his dream of becoming a champion, guided by his coach, Raul Gatti, played by Pierfrancesco Favino, a former professional who loves to recount his experience in the round of 16 at the Internazionali di Roma, as if it were a passport to authority and charisma. However, the sporting relationship, while standing on the great will and ambition of the student, must confront the leap in quality that should come with national tournaments and the young promise who, with his father, decides to entrust himself to the coach’s care. With the beginning of a path paved by a deep bond that develops between the two, distant in generational horizons and caught by desires that ultimately become opposing, between wonder and the discovery of life in the early youthful summers and the desire to start over. Andrea Di Stefano’s film ignites both Favino and the very young Tiziano Menichelli, with tennis serving as a lofty pretext to tell the future of a tennis prodigy and the carefree past of the coach, both in search of diametrically opposite lives. With the bond, which in a sort of up & down will become unrepeatable, ensnared by lies, defeats, and that unforgettable and formative journey through Italy in the summer.
