What are the characteristics of the Venetian Villas in the territory of Mogliano Veneto and how do they integrate with the landscape of Terraglio to offer a unique experience to visitors?
Mogliano is renowned as the City of Villas, boasting a total of 32 historic residences within its territory, with 19 of them identified as Venetian Villas. This characteristic roots Mogliano’s tourist vocation back to the times of the Serenissima Republic. Originally owned by Venetians and nobles of the Republic of Venice, these sumptuous residences were places where they would spend their holiday periods, often accompanied by vast land holdings.
The heart of this tradition is represented by the Terraglio, the road that crosses our city and hosts most of these Villas. Originally a stretch of the historic Napoleonica road that connects Venice to Treviso, we are implementing an ambitious redevelopment project to turn it into a slow mobility road. Furthermore, we are creating a new cycle path that will extend to Venice and planting 120 new plane trees along this impressive road artery, which connects the cities of Treviso and Venice through the pearl of the Terraglio, our beloved Mogliano Veneto.
Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, we are gradually regaining our tourism momentum. Before COVID-19, we recorded around 250,000 tourist stays per year, with approximately 130,000 arrivals. We are confident in restoring these important numbers. However, our ambition goes further: we aim to offer visitors a more in-depth experience, encouraging them to spend not just a day, but perhaps even half a day or more exploring the beauties of our territory before continuing their journey to nearby Venice.
