For two days, the Forte welcomed thousands of visitors who came to participate in the dozens of events of Venice Comics, such as exhibitions, meetings, and debates, with the aim of stimulating their passions and experiencing new adventures. Several areas were set up to encourage the exchange of ideas and discussions on the world of comics and its nuances.
VENICE. The highlight of the second day was the Cosplay parade and competition, which closed the two days of the event at the main stage area.
The first three classified were:
- Beatrice C. – Aurora from Sleeping Beauty;
- Riccardo P. – Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy 7;
- Giulia B. – Zinogre Armor from Monster Hunter.
The mayor of Venice, Luigi Brugnaro, is very satisfied: “I thank the families who have chosen to bring their children to spend two days of joy and carefreeness with us. I thank the young people who enlivened the event, putting their passions into practice, dressing up, and actively participating in the celebration. Furthermore, I thank the organizers and all those who have worked hard for the success of this event that, I can say with great pleasure, has made its way among the great city events becoming a point of reference here at Forte Marghera.
As an Administration, we are proud of the important restoration work done to improve the spaces of the Fort, abandoned for years. We wanted to give back these spaces to the citizens who are rewarding us, spending many hours here in our company and participating in various initiatives. Forte Marghera will come back to life next Sunday, May 11th, from 9 am to 7 pm, with the event ‘Forte in Fiore’.”
The beating heart of the festival was the game and comic market exhibition, which expanded its spaces even further with new buildings. The self-publishing area also doubled in space and possibilities, being repositioned outdoors with a series of gazebos hosting independent authors and novelties from the world of self-productions.
VeneziaComics was part of the “Le Città in Festa” schedule, enjoying the patronage of the Regional Council of Veneto, Vela Spa, Venezia Unica, and Riff – Italian Comics Festival Network. It was realized in collaboration with the Forte Marghera Foundation, Cooperativa Controvento, IMG Cinemas, Tana dei Goblin Association, Dreamaker Events, Fems du Cinema Association, Passacinese Association, MuVe, Ca’ Foscari Venice Short Film Festival, and Tanagura Association.
