Ukrainian military hero in Venice: saves the life of a stabbed young man

A Ukrainian military officer, Yanis Tereshchenko, was welcomed at Ca’ Farsetti by Mayor Luigi Brugnaro. The reason for this meeting is an act of heroism in which Tereshchenko was the protagonist on Monday afternoon, when he saved the life of a boy who was a victim of stabbing.

Venice. Thanks to the first aid kit he always carries with him and his promptness, Tereshchenko managed to stop the bleeding of the young man, assisting him until the arrival of the emergency services. A gesture that has aroused great admiration and gratitude throughout the city.

“Yanis’s gesture is an example for everyone,” declared Mayor Brugnaro during the meeting. “He has my personal gratitude and that of the entire City of Venice for this great act of humanity, courage, and altruism. To Yanis, to the whole Ukrainian people, and to the friends in Odessa, we renew our solidarity for a lasting peace that guarantees their defense.”

The episode shook the city of Venice, but Tereshchenko’s courageous act demonstrated how solidarity and altruism can manifest themselves at any time and in any place. Mayor Brugnaro wanted to personally thank the Ukrainian military officer, emphasizing how his gesture is an example for everyone, a beacon of hope in such a difficult historical moment.
