The regional council opens new calls for Rural Development: 20 million for competitiveness and 14 million for generational change. Councillor Dario Bond: “We are investing in the future of agricultural businesses and the competitiveness of Veneto”
VENICE – Sixty million euros to support investments by Veneto agricultural companies, promote generational change, and encourage environmental sustainability, irrigation savings, and animal welfare. This is what the measure provides for, with which the Veneto Regional Council, on the proposal of the Agriculture Assessor Dario Bond, has decided to open new calls for the Regional Complement for Rural Development of the National Strategic Plan of the CAP 2023-2027.
The measure, which will be sent to the Regional Council for the opinion of the competent Council Commission, makes available a total of 60 million euros, corresponding to a regional co-financing of 10.674 million.
“Venetian agriculture – emphasizes the assessor Dario Bond – is a strategic sector for the economy and for our territories. With this new package of interventions, we are providing resources to businesses to become more competitive and sustainable, but above all, we aim to support young people who decide to enter the agricultural sector to build their future here.”
Fourteen million for young farmers
A significant portion of the resources is allocated to generational change. The settlement grant for young farmers is allocated 14 million euros. Further interventions may be activated within the so-called Young Package, which combines support for settlement with investments dedicated to competitiveness, innovation, environmental sustainability, diversification, and damage prevention.
The largest share, amounting to 20 million euros, will finance productive investments aimed at increasing the competitiveness of agricultural companies.
Another 12 million euros will be allocated to interventions for the environment, climate, irrigation savings, and animal welfare. Special attention will be given to reducing emissions, protecting water and soil, more efficient use of water resources, and improving the conditions of animals in farming.
Resources for prevention and diversification
The package also includes 2 million euros to prevent adversities and infestations that can compromise agricultural production potential.
Another million euros will instead be used to promote the diversification of activities carried out by agricultural companies, contributing to the economic and social development of rural areas.
Eleven million for consulting and training
The regional measure also focuses on the professional growth of the sector. 5 million euros are allocated for consulting services aimed at agricultural and forestry businesses and rural areas, while 6 million euros will fund the training and updating of agricultural entrepreneurs and forestry operators.
“We do not only finance machinery or structures,” adds Bond. “We want to support agriculture that can face market transformations and new environmental challenges, placing skills and the ability to innovate at the center. This is why support for young people, training, and consulting is an integral part of our strategy. The goal is to ensure that the resources of the CAP translate into real investments, greater efficiency, and new opportunities for businesses and rural communities in Veneto.”
The technical-administrative management of applications will be entrusted to AVEPA, which will handle the receipt and processing of requests, as well as the verification of their eligibility and fundability, according to the procedures defined by the Region. Deadlines and methods for submitting applications will be indicated in the individual calls for proposals.
