The City Council approves the calendar of dates on which the measure will be applied. Objective: to protect urban liveability and improve the visitor experience
VENICE (ITALY) The City Council has defined the calendar of days on which the Venice Access Contribution will be applied for the year 2026. The measure, presented by councillors Michele Zuin (Budget) and Simone Venturini (Tourism), establishes 60 days on which the measure will be in force, always between 8.30 a.m. and 4 p.m., with the exception of the smaller islands as provided for in the municipal regulations.
The fee will be required on the days with the highest tourist influx, spread between April and July:
April: 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30
May: 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, 17, 22, 23, 24, 29, 30, 31
June: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, 14, 19, 20, 21, 26, 27, 28
July: 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, 26
The measure, introduced on a trial basis by the Brugnaro administration, aims to regulate tourist flows, reduce pressure on the historic city and improve the quality of visits. ‘The approval of these guidelines is a fundamental step in planning the organisation of the contribution well in advance,“ said Zuin. ‘We are moving from 54 days in 2025 to 60 in 2026, confirming the general framework: long weekends from Friday to Sunday and fixed hours”.
The contribution has already attracted international interest, making Venice the first city in the world to adopt such a measure. ‘We are continuing along this path,’ added Zuin, ‘with the aim of protecting the liveability of the city and enhancing the visitor experience.’
The amount of the contribution for 2026 will be determined in a subsequent measure. In the meantime, the approval of the calendar allows the tender procedures for the management of the service to begin, in view of the new tourist season.
