Venice celebrates the 80 years of ANMI: a tribute to the Italian sailors

VENICE – The celebrations for the eightieth anniversary of the ANMI Group (National Association of Italian Sailors) of the lagoon city were held this weekend. The event, which brought together civil and military authorities, representatives of weapon associations, and ANMI groups from different regions, paid tribute to those who have served in the Navy under the tricolor flag.

Representing the municipal administration, Councilor for Security Elisabetta Pesce intervened, emphasizing the symbolic value of the ceremony: “Venice, a city of the sea, can only honor the sailors of Italy and all those who work for the sea. A heartfelt thought goes out to all the fallen.”

The gathering took place near the Arsenal, with the laying of a wreath at the monument to the Fallen, followed by a procession along Via Garibaldi and the raising of the flag. The morning ended with the celebration of Mass at the church of San Biagio and a social moment at the Non-Commissioned Officers Club. An opportunity to strengthen the bonds between generations and pass on the maritime spirit that has always connected Venice to its history.
