The Municipality of Venice is preparing to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Liberation with a rich program of events that will take place throughout the municipal territory. The celebrations, organized in collaboration with Anpi, Anppia, Fiap-G.L., Assoarma, the Jewish Community of Venice, and the Venetian Institute for the History of the Resistance and Contemporary Society, will offer moments of reflection and commemoration to remember the sacrifice of those who fought for freedom.
VENICE. The main events will take place in Venice, starting at 9:15 am in Piazza San Marco, and will continue at 12:15 pm at Campo del Ghetto Nuovo. Simultaneously, in Mestre, the celebrations will be held between Piazza Municipio and Piazza Ferretto, starting at 10:15 am.
Below is the detailed program of the events on April 25:
VENICE
- 9:15 am | Piazza San Marco: flag-raising and honors by a Company in Arms Interforces accompanied by the band of the Local Police of Venice.
- 10:00 am | Memory Path: presentation of the biographies in memory of the Martyrs of freedom in Campo SS. Apostoli, Campo S. Sofia, Campo S. Fosca, Campo S. Leonardo.
- 12:15 pm | Campo del Ghetto Nuovo: conclusion of the Memory Path, followed by: Liberation Party, concert by the Pellestrina music band, flag-raising ceremony, and official commemoration.
MESTRE
- 10:15 am | Mestre Municipio: laying of laurel wreaths at the plaques dedicated to the fallen.
- 10:30 am | Piazza Ferretto: flag-raising ceremony and honors by the military detachment. Followed by Liberation Party and official commemoration with the concert of the Tessera music band, readings by the “Voci di Carta” Association, music and songs by the duo “Storie Storte,” interventions by students of the “Bruno – Franchetti” Institute.

MUNICIPALITY OF VENICE MURANO BURANO
- 8:15 am | Sestiere di Castello, Campo Bandiera e Moro: flag-raising by Assoarma.
- 4:00 pm | Sestiere di Castello, Via Garibaldi: meeting at S. Elena pier and start of the Path of Peace.
- 5:15 pm | Riva dei Sette Martiri: conclusion of the Path and commemorative interventions.
- 6:30 pm | Giudecca, Fondamenta San Giacomo: laying of a laurel wreath at the plaque in memory of the Fallen for Freedom.
- 10:30 am | S. Erasmo: Commemorative Mass in honor of the Fallen. Followed by laying of a laurel wreath at the monument to the Fallen.
- 10:15 am | Burano: gathering at Piazza B. Galuppi, flag-raising and laying of a laurel wreath on the plaque dedicated to the Fallen.
