The Municipal Council of Venice has approved the regulation for the Access Contribution 2025 to the ancient City and the smaller islands of the lagoon. The measure, which will be active from April 18 to July 27, provides for a fee of 5 to 10 euros for daily tourists and introduces simplifications for exemptions.
VENICE. The objective of the Access Contribution, introduced by the 2019 Budget Law and updated in 2021, is to manage tourist flows and discourage daily tourism during certain periods of the year, protecting the delicacy and uniqueness of Venice.
The portal for booking and paying the Access Contribution will be active in the coming days at the address https://cda.ve.it/it/. The site will also provide information on exemptions, exclusions, and registrations.
The trial for 2025 includes 54 days of Access Contribution, compared to 29 in 2024. It will start with a single block from April 18 to May 4, then continue in May (9 and 10, 11 and 16, 17, 18, 23, 24, 25 and 30, 31), June (1, 2 and 6, 7, 8 and 13, 14, 15 and 20, 21, 22 and 27, 28, 29), and July (4, 5, 6 and 11, 12, 13 and 18, 19, 20 and 25, 26, 27).
The contribution will be due from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. The fee will be 5 euros for those who book by the fourth day before arrival and 10 euros for those who book from the third day before the visit.
To simplify registration, access to the portal via Spid, Cie, and Cns has been introduced. Among the categories that must register with digital identity, if not residents of Veneto, are:
- Workers with a stable workplace in Venice (employees, self-employed, entrepreneurs)
- Individuals and families who have paid the Imu in Venice
- Athletes and companions participating in sports competitions recognized by Coni
- Tenants of properties in Venice with non-tourist use contracts
- Employees of public administrations with service accommodation in Venice
- Spouse, cohabitant, relatives up to the third degree of residents in Venice
- Individuals inviting people visiting Venice or persons with temporary residence in Venice
- First-degree relatives of owners of residential properties in Venice
Based on the experience of 2024, it was decided to exempt residents of Veneto and students, including commuters, from registration and payment of the contribution. This decision was made to assess the effect of Veneto residents not booking on tourist flows.
