Villa Accenti, Ivancich, Revedin, better known as “Salus”, is a sumptuous Venetian villa located in Carpenedo, a suburb of the City of Venice, overlooking the eastern side of the Terraglio.
The story
The history of Villa Salus has deep roots that date back to the 16th century, when a manor house, already present in the location since 1590, belonged to the Accenti family. During the 1700s, the property subsequently passed to the Ivancich family. In the following period, the residence became owned by the Revedin counts and, at the end of the Second World War, it came under the auspices of the Congregation of the Mantellate Servants of Mary, from which it takes its current name.
In 1909, the Congregation was approved by Pope Pius X and also expanded to North America and Africa. In 1952, the structure was transformed into a Healing Center called “SALUS” with the aim of providing therapeutic care for both physical and psychological needs. Over the years, the Congregation has continued to serve following the Church’s guidelines and adapting to the changing times, making significant structural and organizational changes.
In 1985, the hospital obtained the official classification of Hospital, entering the National Health Service (SSN). Currently, Villa Salus Hospital provides services both as inpatient and outpatient, with the main goal of offering quality care in a human and environmentally appropriate setting, respecting the values of life and the dignity of patients.
Architecture
The current appearance of Villa Salus clearly reflects the 19th-century style, characterized by the main building and two side porticoed wings set further back. The structure features the typical architecture of Venetian country residences, although the interiors have undergone modifications during the transformation into a hospital.
The main facade follows a classic three-part scheme, with the central section emphasized by mullioned windows, while the other two, well spaced, feature simpler openings. The vertical tripartition overlaps with a horizontal tripartition, corresponding to the three levels of the villa.
The ground floor features architraved openings, including the majestic entrance door, while the noble floor showcases arched profiles, balconies with iron railings, and a remarkable central trilobate window with pseudo-Ionic columns. Rectangular small windows at the attic level add a distinctive touch.
The rear facade, while maintaining the same layout, is distinguished by the absence of a specific pediment, replaced by an attic with volutes on the sides and a crowning triangular pediment.
Current Use
Today, Villa Salus is known for hosting a hospital managed by the Congregation of the Mantellate Sisters of Mary. The modern clinic facilities are located at the back of the villa, while the main building houses the administrative offices and the nuns’ residence. Preserving this historic villa as a hospital center maintains its role in the contemporary community, keeping alive its historical heritage.

The hospital is currently managed by Dr. Maurizio Agnoletto and includes departments of Radiology, Laboratory Analysis and Microbiology, Outpatient Clinics, Multidisciplinary One Day Surgery, Gynecology, General Surgery and Orthopedics, General Medicine – Long-term Care, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Rehabilitation Service and Physical Therapies.
The hospital structure sees the eastern part of the ancient villa opening onto the inner courtyard, where a welcoming garden creates a serene environment. This section is intended to host administrative offices and accommodate the Sisters who live there. In the heart of the building, the new wings house hospital wards, outpatient clinics, and services, distributed on different floors according to criteria of functionality and modern architectural geometry.

The Institute has constantly adapted its structure to the needs of the time. In 1985, thanks to significant structural and organizational changes, it obtained the classification of “District Hospital”, becoming an integral part of the National Health Service (NHS). Through respect for the signs of the times and constant evolution, in 2002, the structure obtained Regional Authorization to Operate and, in 2010, the first Institutional Accreditation, confirming its excellence and constant commitment to providing high-quality health services.The Villa Salus Hospital, as an accredited private facility, is now an integral part of the regional socio-healthcare plans.
