Free cardiology check-ups at Policlinico San Marco for World Heart Day: an initiative by the Friends of the Heart Association in collaboration with the Lions Club Venezia-Marghera, which donated a defibrillator to a gym in Marghera.

VENICE — On Saturday, October 4, 2025, on the occasion of World Heart Day, the Policlinico San Marco in Mestre hosted a morning entirely dedicated to cardiovascular prevention, offering free cardiology screenings promoted by the Friends of the Heart Association of the Venetian Mainland.

The initiative, carried out in collaboration with the Lions Club Venezia-Marghera, attracted many citizens interested in taking care of their health through a series of free screenings: measurements of cholesterol, triglycerides, and blood sugar levels, body weight check, and electrocardiograms. The activities took place throughout the morning, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., under the supervision of medical staff and volunteers from the association.

During the event, the Lions Club Venezia-Marghera also donated a defibrillator to a gym in Marghera, where free martial arts and self-defense courses are organized.

Representing the municipal administration, councilor Maika Canton, delegated for city maintenance and urban furnishings, conveyed her greetings and emphasized the importance of initiatives like this for public health:

“The prevention activities promoted by the association represent a significant contribution to the well-being of the city. In particular, in the Marghera gym, it is essential that the facility is equipped with a medical device such as a defibrillator to ensure the safety of everyone who uses it.”

The event concluded with a moment of thanks to the volunteers and doctors involved, who made this day of awareness and prevention possible.

A concrete initiative that combines solidarity, health, and community, reminding everyone that prevention is the first step in taking care of one’s heart.
