At the Shooting World Championships, the Italian team wins a splendid silver in the 10-meter pistol behind the Indian team
CAIRO (EGYPT) – At the World Shooting Championships held in Cairo, Egypt, the trio composed of Federico Nilo Maldini, Paolo Monna, and Mattia Scodes won a fantastic silver medal in the 10-meter team pistol event, finishing the competition with a total of 1746 points.
Well done to the blues for standing up to the other Nations and returning to the world podium in this specialty after 31 years when in Milan Roberto Di Donna (now the Maestro of the blues), Vigilio Fait, and Vincenzo Spilotro achieved the same position. India wins with a total of 1754 points, while bronze goes to Germany with 1740 points.
Among all, it is worth highlighting the performance of Federico Nilo Maldini, sixth in the individual event. The winner of the Olympic silver at Paris 2024 thus reaffirms his position among the best in the category, leading his team to the final result.
Fourth place instead for Lorenzo Bacci, Simon Weithaler, and Edoardo Bonazzi in the three-position rifle event. With a score of 1764 (which sets a new Italian record), the Italians finish tied with Switzerland, who placed third with 1764 points, behind France and Norway.
An excellent result that bodes well for upcoming international commitments, with eyes already set on the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.
