From August 26 to September 13, the Garden of Palazzo Zuckermann hosts the second part of the review: featuring world premieres, philosophy, scientific dissemination, and performances with Patrizio Roversi and Teatro Bresci
PADOVA – After the summer break, Castello Festival resumes its programming on Wednesday August 26 in the intimate setting of the Teatro Giardino di Palazzo Zuckermann, at Corso Garibaldi 33. The second part of the event features ten appointments including music, theater, philosophy, dance, and scientific dissemination, guiding the audience until the conclusion of the XII edition, scheduled for Sunday, September 13.
The review is promoted by the Municipality of Padua – Department of Culture, with the support of the Foundation of Savings Bank of Padua and Rovigo. The artistic direction is entrusted to Maurizio Camardi, while the general organization is managed by the Gershwin Music School.
The festival involves a wide cultural network made up of INAF, Veneto Jazz, I Solisti Veneti, Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, Dal Vivo Eventi, Spaziodanza, MareAltoTeatro, Play APS, Tempi e Ritmi, Associazione Filosofia di Vita, Associazione 100 Voci, Associazione Music Lab, I Musici Patavini, Teatro Bresci, Tarassaco Teatro, and Plastic Free Onlus.
The main sponsor of the event is IN’s Mercato, supported by BCC Veneta, Tecno Crane, Stylplex, and Giuriolo & Pandolfo Assicuratori. Among the partners are Garden Cavinato, Hotel Europa, BigUp Eventi, and Bar Mantegna. The media partners are APS Holding, Radio Bella&Monella, Radio Birikina, Quadro Advertising, and Fotoclub Padova.

The opening with the Orchestra of Padua and Veneto
The second part of the festival opens Wednesday, August 26 at 9 PM with the Orchestra of Padua and Veneto, featuring “Dances.” The program, dedicated to dance in music, includes Bartók’s Romanian Dances, the Partita by Marcello Panni, presented in absolute premiere, and Respighi’s Concerto all’antica.
On the podium will be Nima Keshavarzi, with Francesca Bonaita on the violin. The concert will support the Diocesan Caritas of Padua. The full ticket costs 12 euros, plus the booking fees.
Philosophy and Diplomacy in World Premiere
Friday, August 28, in collaboration with the Philosophy of Life Association, a new world premiere will take place. The philosopher Renato Boccali and the diplomat Gianpaolo Scarante will discuss the theme “Philosophy and diplomacy in international relations.”
Scarante, former ambassador to Greece and Turkey and diplomatic advisor to the Prime Minister, will engage in a dialogue with Boccali, an expert in phenomenology and the philosophy of translation, about the geographies and cultures that intersect.
Admission is free, with mandatory reservation until seats are filled, available from August 21.
The Voices of Southern Africa
The September program will open on Thursday 3rd with the Insingizi, in the only date in Veneto, in the show “Voices of Southern Africa”.
The three singers from Zimbabwe will bring the polyphonies of Zulu singing mbube, made famous by Paul Simon and Ladysmith Black Mambazo with “Graceland.” Their debut album has sold 250,000 copies in North America, achieving the WOMEX Gold Record.
The evening is organized in collaboration with Veneto Jazz. Tickets for the unnumbered seating cost 23 euros full price and 18 euros reduced. Presales are available through the TicketOne circuit.
A Musical Journey Through the Streets of Paris
Friday, September 4 will see the presentation of another world premiere: “A Journey Through the Streets of Paris” by Passepartout & Band.
Chiara Dal Molin, known as Passepartout, along with accordion, guitar, and double bass, will bring to life the atmospheres of chanson française and swing manouche, ranging from Piaf to Zaz and from Aznavour to Trenet. The event is organized in collaboration with the Play Association.

Padua told through music and words
Another absolute premiere is scheduled for Saturday, September 5 with Stefania Miotto, Federica Santinello & Full Moon 4et in the show “See you in Padua! A Charm of pure Maraveja”.
The project offers a journey through music and words to discover the soul of the city, through the voice of soprano Stefania Miotto, Cultural Ambassador of Padova Urbs Picta, and the ironic narration of Federica Santinello. They will be accompanied by the Full Moon 4et directed by Matteo Mignolli.
The evening is organized in collaboration with I Musici Patavini. The ticket for the unnumbered seating costs 15 euros, plus booking fees, and is available at Gabbia Dischi and through the Vivaticket network.
Alessandro Aresu and the comparison between China and the United States
Sunday, September 6 the Philosophy of Life Association will return with the second meeting of the series. Alessandro Aresu, geopolitical analyst, former advisor to Palazzo Chigi and scientific advisor of Limes, will speak on the topic “China has won.”
During the evening, Aresu will explain how China has gained dominant positions in economic, technological, and relational terms in relation to the United States.
“Cinderella” between classical and contemporary dance
The dance will take center stage on Tuesday, September 8 with the world premiere of “Cinderella. The Endless Story,” a performance by Spaziodanza interpreted by the students of the advanced courses.
The direction is by Laura Pulin, while the choreography is by Rosa Fondacaro, Roberta Fanzini, and Giovanna Trinca. The famous fairy tale will be presented through an original reinterpretation, designed to highlight the talent of young artists.
The single ticket costs 15 euros, plus the booking fees. Pre-sales are available at the Spaziodanza venue, located at via Riello 5/a in Padua, at Gabbia Dischi, and through the Vivaticket circuit.
The universe told through poetry slam
Friday, September 11 space for “Poetry for the Sky. The whole universe (or almost) in a poetry slam,” with Lorenzo Maragoni and Chiara Di Benedetto.
Some of the best Italian artists in Poetry Slam will compete with verses inspired by astrophysical research, while the audience will be tasked with declaring the winner. The project originates from an artistic residency carried out in collaboration with researchers from INAF and is produced by Studio Bleu for the National Institute of Astrophysics.
The evening will be hosted by Lorenzo Maragoni, world champion of poetry slam in 2022.
Patrizio Roversi talks about climate and environment
Saturday, September 12 will feature Patrizio Roversi, who, along with Maurizio Camardi and David Soto Chero, will present “Beyond Oil. A show on climate and environment,” directed by Mietta Corli.
Travel films made from the Ecuadorian Amazon to Tibet, from Svalbard to Yemen, accompanied by the music of Camardi and Soto Chero, will tell the story of climate change and international cooperation projects with the lightness and curiosity that characterize Roversi’s work.

The closure with “Malabrenta”
Closing the XII edition of Castello Festival, on September 13, will be Teatro Bresci with “Malabrenta”, a show featuring Giacomo Rossetto, written and directed by Giorgio Sangati.
Winner of the OFF 2011 Award from the Teatro Stabile del Veneto, the work tells the story of the “mala del Brenta” through the eyes of a nameless henchman, reconstructing the entire criminal saga with the tools of civil theater.
