The third line of the ItalRugby Women’s team, Francesca Sgorbini, is among the four athletes competing for the title of best player of the 2026 Women’s Guinness Six Nations

An edition of the 2026 Women’s Six Nations Championship that will be remembered for the Italian women’s Rugby National Team. After an excellent team performance and securing fourth place, personal achievements also follow. The flanker Francesca Sgorbini has indeed been included by fans first in the tournament’s ideal XV and then among the four candidates competing for the title of best player of this edition.

An improving performance from the Azzurra, who scored three tries during the tournament, including two against the World Champions of England, which allowed Italy to earn their first offensive bonus point against the Red Roses, and one in the victory last Sunday in Cardiff against Wales.

Not only an attacker for Sgorbini, but also leadership, charisma, and effectiveness in every aspect of the game. So much so that she was named Player of the Match in the match against Scotland and MVP of the same round. Leading the championship in the French Elite 1, already won in 2001, the player from Pesaro is now a key player for her club, ASM Clermont.

Competing for the title will be the English Captain Meg Jones, the Irish number 8 Aoife Wafer, and the French scrum-half Pauline Bourdon-Sansus.
