Simone Venturini was elected Mayor of Venice in the first round, surpassing 51% of the votes, while the main opponent Andrea Martella stopped just above 39%. The DOC, designation of continued origin, the preparation and determination in the program to be implemented, rewarded the “young” Venturini
Venice – Simone Veneturini 38 years old, born and raised in Marghera, a district of Venice, graduated in Law, married, is the new Mayor of the City of Water and Land. With his Civic List Venturini Sindaco, he obtained 30.20% of the votes, surpassing all parties.
Venturini won with the Center-Right coalition which includes, in addition to his civic list, Brothers of Italy, League, Forza Italia, Party of the Venetians, and Union of the Center.
An exceptional recognition that rewards Mr. Venturini for his preparation, his work over a span of 16 years since his first election as a city councilor, the seriousness of the “good guy”, and his commitment since childhood in Catholic associations, scouting, and volunteering.
He graduated with a scientific diploma from Liceo Morin in Mestre and obtained a degree in law in Padua. He got married on May 25, 2024, and yesterday he celebrated both his election as Mayor of Venice and the second wedding anniversary.
He is already a veteran in politics: from 2010 to 2014 he was the group leader municipal councilor in Venice on the lists of the Udc; in 2015, as the top candidate on the civic list of Luigi Brugnaro, he was the most voted councilor candidate; he was then re-elected in 2020, becoming assessor for social cohesion, tourism, housing policies, economic development, and labor.
The Opponent Martella
Martella, who is this person? wondered the citizens called to the administrative vote on May 24 and 25, 2026. Born in Portogruaro 57 years ago, he has been active since he was very young in the ranks of the Communist Party. He was also elected at a young age, at 22 years old, as a councilor and then assessor in Portograuaro.
Once the PC, Martella has always been active in the Democratic Party, holding various positions in Rome. It is said that he lives in Mestre, in the via Piave area, but I, who lived in Mestre from before he was born until two years ago, have never seen him.
So, a Christian Democrat against a communist? A young person against an old one? A local son against a foreigner? Certainly, the difference between the two is not that simplistic, but the electorate has certainly chosen the young man from the neighborhood, the good guy who is well-prepared and consistent, the politician with a clear project, one who was not nominated by a coalition to “defeat” the other but to achieve specific goals.
And above all, a politician who did not nominate those who had no qualifications to represent the Municipality of Venice just to gather votes but chose the right people for the very important role they were running for. And the voters rewarded his work and his choices.
Good job Simone!
