The juries, made up of professionals from the film industry and representatives from the world of art, culture, and entertainment, will award a Best Film Award for each of the four categories in which the festival is divided: Short Films, Documentaries, Feature Films, Focus Northeast.
Alongside the awards from the technical jury, a Audience Award will be given to the work deemed most deserving in each of the competition sections.
Three Special Awards will also be assigned, each worth 500 euros: the Astoria Award reserved for the best film focused on themes of inclusion, tolerance, and multiculturalism, the Benetton Foundation Studies Research Award “Changing Landscapes”, intended for a work that significantly represents the theme of landscape in its continuous evolution, and the Rotary Club Treviso Terraglio Award, dedicated to the young director whose socially themed short film is deemed particularly relevant and original.
Promoted by the Cultural Association Horizons, in collaboration with the Edera Cinema, and with the patronage of the Veneto Region and the Municipality of Treviso, the festival benefits from the artistic direction of the director Gloria Aura Bortolini, of Giuliana Fantoni, operator of the Edera Cinema and national President of the F.I.C.E. (Italian Federation of Art House Cinema), and of the film historian Giuseppe Borrone.
On July 24th, the press conference for the festival was held in the Guadagnin Hall of Palazzo Rinaldi, in the presence of the Cultural Councillor of the Municipality of Treviso, Maria Teresa De Gregorio. This summer, from July 29th to August 1st, Treviso once again gives voice to the young talents of the seventh art in a place, the Cinema Edera, which has represented the beating heart of the event since its first edition, becoming a true laboratory where different forms of artistic expression happily blend.
The selection of works in competition is confirmed to be substantial: the 36 films, divided into 6 feature films, 6 documentaries, 12 short films, and 12 works proposed in the Focus Nordest section, come not only from the national territory but also from other parts of the world (from Sweden to Saudi Arabia, from France to the United Kingdom, and even Cuba), reaffirming the global vocation of the Edera Film Festival and its role in fostering dialogue between different cultures and countries, in the spirit of mutual understanding and enrichment.
To them, as to all other competitors, we wish the success that has smiled upon authors of the highest caliber today, such as Francesco Sossai, a director from Feltre who won the Jury Prize in the 2022 edition with “Altri cannibali” and in recent months has captivated both audiences and critics with his second feature film, “Le città di pianura,” which has been acclaimed by critics since its debut at the Cannes Film Festival.

In these eight years, it has managed to grow continuously, strengthen its identity, and build a cultural project of great quality with national and international reach. It is a festival that invests in new generations, offering them an authentic space for dialogue and experimentation, also becoming an important showcase, but at the same time has shown the ability to identify and support authors who are now protagonists of the film scene. This testifies to the solidity of its organizational structure, the foresight of the artistic direction, and the ability to network with the territory and with important cultural and entrepreneurial realities. For our territory, it is a source of pride to host an event that continues to grow and enhance talent and creativity».
Alongside the competitive sections, as usual, there are some special events: for this eighth edition, four panels are scheduled, each dedicated to a specific theme and set for 6:00 PM. On July 29, the first of these will focus on Peace: moderated by Saskia Terzani, television host Patrizio Roversi and director Giuseppe Ghinami will participate; following this, their documentary “R60, la Vaca ad fer – In search of the worker tractor” will be screened, which reconstructs the story that led the Officine Meccaniche Reggiane to create, in the post-war period, a true gem of ingenuity.
