Montecchio Maggiore is preparing to experience an evening of great music and strong symbolic value. On Thursday, June 18, at 9 PM, the park of Villa Cordellina Lombardi will host the 2026 edition of Sinfonia d’Estate, the concert promoted by the Province of Vicenza and Banca delle Terre Venete in collaboration with the Orchestra Sinfonica del Veneto and with the support of the Region of Veneto.
This year’s event will be dedicated to the eightieth anniversary of the birth of the Italian Republic, a commemoration that recalls one of the most significant moments in national history: the referendum of June 2, 1946, which established the republican choice and opened a new democratic era. A date that also marked the entry of women into the political life of the country, with their first vote in a national consultation.
To pay tribute to this anniversary will be the Veneto Symphony Orchestra conducted by maestro Stefano Romani and the Coro Città di Piazzola sul Brenta led by maestro Paolo Piana. On stage will also be tenor Cristian Ricci, interpreter of famous arias from the Italian and international lyrical repertoire. The evening will be hosted by journalist and writer Federica Morello, who will guide the audience through a journey of music, history, and civil reflection.
The concert is part of the now-established tradition of the major musical event at the beginning of summer, which has become one of the most anticipated moments in the Vicentine cultural scene over the years. A format that combines the enhancement of artistic and landscape heritage with the promotion of symphonic and choral music.
The dedication for the eightieth anniversary of the Republic comes just days after the initiative “Montecitorio a Porte Aperte,” during which the Ensemble My Venice – an all-female group from the Veneto Symphony Orchestra – performed at the Chamber of Deputies in a showcase dedicated to the democratic history of the country. The concert in Montecchio Maggiore will thus represent an ideal continuation of that celebratory journey.
The frame of Villa Cordellina Lombardi, with its park transformed for the occasion into an open-air theater, will help make the evening even more enchanting. Admission is free until seats are filled.
