The drums of Brazil, the traditional costumes of Saxony, the Andean music of Ecuador, the acrobatic dances of the dancers from Georgia, and the engaging music of the Mariachi along with the colorful costumes of the beautiful Mexican women, as well as the sombreros flying above the dancers’ heads, brought the evening to life. A captivating show, full of emotions and engagement.
Sile Folk represents much more than a dance festival. For seventeen editions, it has promoted the meeting of different cultures through the universal language of music and folk traditions, transforming Treviso into a place of dialogue, friendship, and sharing. A testament to this is the friendship that the delegation from Mexico has woven with the Gruppo Folcloristico Pastoria del Borgo Furo for many years.
The performances will continue in the various squares mentioned in the attached poster, but the most important event will be on July 14th under the Loggia dei Cavalieri, when the groups will present not only their dances but also the musical instruments, traditional costumes, and culinary specialties of the represented countries, offering the audience a true journey through cultures and folk traditions.
An opportunity to take a small trip around the world, getting to know the customs and traditions of countries near and far from us, but above all getting to know the people we will meet on these occasions who have made a long journey to learn about us and our city.
with the 17th Sile Folk Festival
The Sile Folk Festival is the international folklore festival that every July brings traditional dancers and musicians from around the world to Treviso. Recognized by CIOFF (Conseil International des Organisations de Festivals de Folklore), it offers evening performances in the squares of the historic center and beyond, with the main event on Saturday, as well as moments of cultural exchange and excursions in Veneto, including a trip to Venice for the guest groups.
For over a week from July 9 to 16, the historic center of Treviso and some locations in the province will become an open-air stage, hosting groups from different countries around the world. The program kicked off on Saturday, July 11, with the official presentation at the Loggia dei Cavalieri, where the groups met the public through brief performances and the traditional exchange of gifts with the city authorities. On the same morning, there were also roaming performances among the stalls of the city market, bringing international folklore to the streets of the center.
The heart of the festival is the evening shows that enliven the squares of the province of Treviso: each group presents performances of traditional dance and music, with the main evening on Saturday night in the central square of Treviso, which unfortunately this year due to uncertain weather, took place under the tent of the Proloco of Canizzano.
Despite the excessive heat, the place was crowded with enthusiasts and the authorities were in the front row. Present were Councillor Dotto for the Municipality of Treviso, David Acampora representing the Province, and Riccardo Barbisan for the Region.
