The Treviso healthcare system confirms its role in the treatment of female oncological diseases. The ESGO (European Society of Gynaecological Oncology), the main European non-profit scientific organization for the study, prevention, and treatment of tumors of the female genital tract, has granted European accreditation for advanced ovarian cancer surgery to the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at Ca’ Foncello Hospital in Treviso, thus certifying the quality standards achieved under the direction of Dr. Enrico Busato.
TREVISO. The recognition rewards the work of an entire multidisciplinary team from the Treviso department, of which Dr. Busato was the Director. An accreditation that remains a reference point for Oncological Gynecology in the province, as Dr. Busato’s solid professional journey now continues at the “Giovanni XXIII” Hospital in Monastier. Since November 1st, he has been leading the Gynecological Oncology of the facility, where he will continue the clinical path developed over years of complex activity.
“The ESGO accreditation is a recognition of the collective work of multiple departments at the Treviso Hospital and the entire team I have had the privilege to work with – comments Dr. Enrico Busato. – Ovarian cancer is the leading cause of death from gynecological cancer and the fifth for overall cancer mortality among women: an area where every step forward has a real impact for patients. What I bring to “Giovanni XXIII” is the experience gained over the years, with the aim of building a solid and quality Gynecological Oncology pathway in this facility. My goal is to develop in Monastier a care model for gynecological oncology patients that meets the same scientific and methodological standards I followed in Treviso – continues Dr. Busato-. I intend to do this in synergy with the National Health Service and the entire medical staff of “Giovanni XXIII”, focusing on innovation and the humanization of care.”
In this enhancement process, the facility has recently acquired the Centrel Z4, a state-of-the-art colposcope aimed at combating the threat of cervical cancer. This is a sneaky neoplasm that does not show symptoms in the early stages, but the Z4 is able to detect it through pre-cancerous lesions (dysplasias) years before they become aggressive cancer. Identifying them in time allows for small, effective treatments, saving the patient’s life. It is also an effective weapon against vulvar and vaginal carcinoma, rarer tumors that are dangerous if discovered at an advanced stage. The digital definition of the machine allows for the analysis of even the smallest tissue anomalies with an unprecedented level of precision. Thanks to the dedicated camera, the 22-inch touch monitor, and high-definition vision, even tiny lesions – which with older tools could appear blurred or uncertain – now appear clear and defined.
With this integration and technological innovations always at the user’s fingertips, Monastier confirms its vocation as a center of high specialization, preserving in the Treviso area a heritage of medical knowledge of absolute value.
