Tourism, the data from regional statistics. Vice President Pavanetto, “Good start to 2026 with +3.1% in arrivals and +3.5% in stays”

The Vice President and Regional Tourism Assessor, Lucas Pavanetto, introduces the May issue of Statistica Flash, produced by the Regional Statistics Office, and entirely dedicated to tourism.

The data for 2025 highlights that in the Belluno area, all regions show a significant increase in arrivals throughout Belluno, with a peak of +15.5% compared to the previous year in Cadore, +11.4% for Cortina, and +11.6% for Marmolada-Civetta. The primary market remains predominantly Italian everywhere. The growing interest from our fellow countrymen appears crucial for the Marmolada-Civetta area, the Val Biois-Agordino region, and in Valbelluna, while in Cortina, the number of Italians is decreasing, particularly making way for Americans.

The mountainous areas, along with the hilly ones, show a not too pronounced seasonality of flows and a wide possibility of welcoming new tourists. Positive data also for the Veronese region, where there is a 16.6% increase in overnight tourists in Lessinia compared to the previous year. Good news also for Vicenza with a +9.5% increase in overnight stays in Bassano, and the areas of Rovigo along the Po and its delta are also growing with a +17.7%, as well as the Treviso area of Asolo (+10.2). In the Venice area, the result of Chioggia stands out with a growth of 12.1%.

“Tourism is complexity – emphasizes the Vice President. This is why it is important to understand the phenomenon and study the data, and in this the regional administration invests with conviction. Only by starting from a data-driven culture is it truly possible to govern the sector, responding effectively to the needs of the market as well as the communities called to host travelers and creating real value for the involved territories.”

There are only 4 locations in Veneto that in certain months of the year record more overnight tourists than residents. They are Cavallino Treporti (Ve), Caorle (Ve), Lake Garda, and Cortina (Bl). This typically happens in the summer months, between June and August.

The survey also considered the origin of tourists. Venice appears to be the area most open to international flows (86.6%). It also has the highest bed occupancy: considering the facilities open all year round, the average daily occupancy is 39%. Cavallino Treporti, on the other hand, leads in the share of workers in the tourism sector: 44.3%, and for five months, from May to September, the number of residents is therefore surpassed by overnight tourists.
