The Mayor of Venice, Simone Venturini, and the Minister for Sport and Youth, Andrea Abodi, conducted an important inspection at the “Bosco dello Sport” construction site in Tessera, where the new stadium and the city arena are taking shape, a project defined as “a national model” for development and sustainability.
VENICE. The joint inspection allowed for an assessment of the progress of one of the most significant infrastructure projects underway in the Venetian territory. The “Bosco dello Sport” spans a vast area of 116 hectares and represents a total investment exceeding 300 million euros. This ambitious project is divided into five distinct but intrinsically connected construction sites: the construction of the new stadium, the building of the multifunctional arena, the creation of new roadways connecting Tessera to the Airport, the urbanization of the internal areas, and finally, the landscaping and green spaces that will include the planting of over 70,000 trees, transforming the area into a true green lung.
Mayor Simone Venturini emphasized the strategic importance of the project: “What is taking shape is a strategic infrastructure for the future of Venice. The Bosco dello Sport will finally provide the metropolitan area with facilities promised for decades, suitable for national and international competitions and capable of being enjoyed year-round. Venice has the will and ambition to rely on great infrastructures and to compete on equal footing with major European cities. Sports, concerts, and large events will fuel new economies related to hospitality, services, culture, and entertainment, creating opportunities for businesses, workers, and youth. It is a project of national significance that combines development, sustainability, and social cohesion, looking towards future generations.” His words highlight the long-term vision and multidimensional impact of the project, which goes beyond the mere construction of sports facilities.
Minister Andrea Abodi also expressed great enthusiasm, highlighting his third visit to the site: “I have just visited the Bosco dello Sport in Venice for the third time, which is coming to life thanks to the hard work of the men and women who animate the two construction sites, a highly valuable infrastructure project, funded with public resources from the Government and the Municipality, which integrates sports facilities and cutting-edge technology, accessibility, and broad-spectrum sustainability, capable of hosting daily sports activities and high-profile competitions and events.” The minister then provided specific details on the progress: “During my visit to the two construction sites, one dedicated to the fascinating sports and entertainment hall with a capacity of up to 12,000 spectators that will be ready by the end of this year, and the other for the new beautiful stadium that will host 18,000 spectators, you can see the care with which, safely, the work is proceeding quietly, respecting the timelines but above all the public resources that have been invested to develop an area that will become a national and international example.” Abodi concluded with a holistic vision: “Stadium, arena, roadways, services, and a forest of over 70,000 trees will contribute to a model that will benefit the community and attract enthusiasts of the many sports disciplines that will be hosted from all over the world. I like to define it as a true project of human regeneration through sport and entertainment. Credit goes to those who started this work and to those who will see it through. It will be a sports and social hub of great value, and we will be here to celebrate with the citizens and sports enthusiasts because this place is already a positive example for all of Italy.”
