In the fourth stage of the Archery World Cup, the men’s recurve team wins bronze. Final for third place also for the Mixed Team
MADRID (SPAIN) – The men’s recurve archery team stands out immediately in the fourth stage of the World Cup of archery taking place in Madrid. Matteo Borsani, Mauro Nespoli, and Francesco Gregori defeat the United States 5-3 in the bronze medal match after narrowly losing to the very strong South Korea in the semifinals.
A perfect day for the blues who, along with teammate Federico Musolesi, all passed the individual qualifiers. A tough day instead for the women. The Azzurre were eliminated both in the team event and in the individual events.
Instead, the Mixed Team composed of Roberta Di Francesco and Matteo Borsani reached the final for third place. The blue duo, already bronze in Antalya, will challenge India on Sunday at 11:16 AM (live streaming on Archery+).
The statements
The first to comment is Francesco Gregori:
“For me this medal means a lot because it was only my second appearance in the World Cup. I am very happy to share this experience with my teammates. We did well“.
The word then goes to Mauro Nespoli: “All the matches were great, against South Korea we spent a lot trying to reach the gold final and then in the bronze final we started a bit more drained, but then we managed to recover and turn the match in our favor“. The athlete from Fiamme Gialle, Matteo Borsani, closes by saying that, after the mixed bronze in the previous stage in Antalya, he can boast another medal: “This season it’s the second podium in the cup and I’m also happy to share this result with my teammates“.
