NOVE MESTO (CZECH REPUBLIC) – On the day of the team finals of the World Archery Para Series, Italy starts strong with four medals. In Nove Mesto (CZE) in the morning, in W1, Pellizzari and Panella triumph over Great Britain 6-2, while in recurve, Petrilli and Travisani take to the podium after a 5-3 victory against Poland.
In the afternoon, two guaranteed medals in the men’s W1 and women’s Compound, while in the men’s recurve, Italy is competing for bronze against France.
Double bronze in Mixed Team
The first medal comes in the W1 with Asia Pellizzari and Maurizio Panella. A comeback match won 6-2 against Great Britain (Kingstone-Saych). The British start better with a 30-29 that seems to set the tone for the match. Then the Italians unleash and don’t miss a shot, winning all subsequent sets 38-26, 38-31, and 30-29. Gold medal to Czech Republic who wins the final against South Korea 6-2.
The second bronze of the day comes from the duo composed of Vincenza Petrilli and Stefano Travisani who win the final in the recurve against Poland 5-3. A much more balanced match where the first round ends 30 all, the second 33-30 for Italy, and the third to the Poles.
In the final and decisive match, Italy wins 36-30. Gold for India which defeats Indonesia 6-2.
